14 October 2020Long Buckby CCTV System

Long Buckby Parish Council have recently installed a new CCTV System to monitor the centre of the village.  For your information, please find listed the following guidance:

Long Buckby Parish CCTV System Guidance Notes

1. Routinely, CCTV monitors public space (not individuals) 24hrs a day for 365 days a year

2. The system’s operation conforms fully to the UK CCTV Commissioner’s code of practice.

3. The remote Control Centre is staffed by fully trained & qualified CCTV surveillance officers

4. Images are securely stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation.

5. Data is retained for 30 days after which time it is automatically deleted

6. Long Buckby Parish Officers and Councillors have no access to the data

7. Under the terms of the scheme images may only be viewed for the following purposes:

a) Crime prevention & detection

b)Maintenance of public order

8. The data can normally only be used for evidence gathering purposes by requestors, such as:

a) Police

b) Statutory Authorities with powers to prosecute (e.g. Customs & Excise, Trading Standards)

c) Solicitors

d) Accused persons or defendants in criminal proceedings

e) Claimants in civil proceedings

9. Individuals have the right to request access to information on the system regarding themselves - but no one else.

N.B. By law, data access requests must be for a reason that accords with the purposes of the scheme (see point 7 above) and they must provide the operator sufficient information to easily locate the data (e.g. accurate descriptions and a limited time window). A fee will normally be payable for this service and each request must be accompanied by a full-face picture of the subject & two original documents confirming his/her address.

Here are some funds which might be useful to know about:

 

Yelvertoft Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund - benefit residents in the parishes of Clay Coton, Crick, Lilbourne or Yelvertoft. The fund will support a range of charitable, educational, environmental and general community amenity projects to benefit residents in the local community around the wind farm site. Groups are able to apply for up to £7,000 or up to £20,000 for an exceptional project. Northamptonshire Federation of Disability Sport Fund - bursary scheme designed to support the county’s sports clubs, groups and non-profit organisations. Coronavirus phase 3 funding – this will be funding for recovery and response activities. The fund will be open from the 12th October. This will be awarded on a rolling deadline.

17 September 2020Tackling Inequalities Funding - Physical Activity

Northamptonshire Sport have been allocated funding from the National Lottery and Sport England, to work with local organisations and groups who have strong links and relationships with the community to ensure that all residents of Northamptonshire have access to physical activity opportunities that may have been reduced or affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding allocated to Northamptonshire Sport aims to support 4 main priority groups.

Organisations based in or serving Lower Socio - Economic communities.

Organisations supporting participants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.

Organisations supporting people with a disability and / or people with a long term or life limiting health conditions.

Further localised priority will be given to organisations supporting women and girls and LGBTQ+ residents.

In phase 1 we funded 25 organisations including Breast Friends Northamptonshire, Community Courtyard, Dostiyo Asian Women and Girls Association, Rush2TheDen, Northampton Home start, Brewin Stroke Group, Academy for Dementia Research, Shudan CIC.

Applications must show a here and now need for funding as a direct result of COVID-19.

We have attached a copy of the accompanying information and some of the questions you will be asked as part of the application process.  All applications that progress through the first round will proceed to a telephone conversation to gain further information before going to a panel for final decision.

17 September 2020Officers Listen To Community Concerns Around Speeding

Twenty-eight motorists were caught speeding during a special operation organised by Northamptonshire Police in response to community concerns.

Members of the East Northants Neighbourhood Policing and Safer Roads Teams, carried out the speed checks on the B645 between Higham Ferrers and St Neots in Bedfordshire last week (September 5/6).

In total, 40 motoring offences were detected on the county’s section of the road, including a motorcyclist who was clocked riding at 101mph in a 60mph national speed limit zone.

While five drivers were caught exceeding a restricted speed zone limit of 30mph, with the highest speed recorded at 46mph, and one motorist was reported for failing to stop for police, careless driving and had their vehicle recovered.

One driver received a Section 59 warning for driving in an anti-social manner, and a further four were reported for not wearing a seat belt, four for other minor traffic offences and two for driving a car without a valid MOT.

Speeding, along with drink/drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone at the wheel, makes up the fatal four offences, which are often recorded as a contributory factors in road collisions. 

East Northants Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant, Leigh Francoise Goodwin, said: 
“This operation was set up after concerns were raised by the local community that the B645 was becoming a race track, after the road had been advertised on some motorcycle websites as a good stretch of road to ride.

“Knowing sections of the road between Higham Ferrers and St Neots are listed as red routes after a number of fatal road collisions, we carried out the speed checks in partnership with our colleagues in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.

“Speed is often recorded as a contributory factor in road collisions and anything we can do to reduce the likelihood or severity of one occurring is of an obvious benefit to all road users.

“The message is simple – slow down and save lives! The faster you drive or ride the less time you have to react and you are putting not only your life at risk, but also the lives of other road users.”

Reducing the number of people who are killed or seriously injured on the county’s road is one of the Force’s policing priorities. Last year in Northamptonshire, 42 people were killed, and a further 347 were seriously injured.
 

09 September 2020Safer Streets Northamptonshire update: Views sought on the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan for Northampton

A consultation has been launched today seeking views on the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan for Northampton.

The Northampton Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan supports an ambition for Northampton to become a leading centre for active travel, which fully embraces walking and cycling. The document outlines the walking and cycling measures that could be introduced to transform levels of walking and cycling in the town.

We are looking for people’s views on the scope of the document, its approach and whether any changes are needed to the schemes proposed to ensure that they meet the new cycling design guidance LTN 1/20 Cycling Infrastructure Design.

Public Health want to understand what services are needed to support people to improve their health and wellbeing, and in particular to meet the needs of those who are most vulnerable, to see if they have access to the right types of services and if services need to be delivered in different ways to address these needs.

08 September 2020COVID-19 in Northamptonshire - Community Engagement

Northamptonshire County Council (NCC), and all our partners who are working together on the coronavirus pandemic, want to hear from members of our communities.

We want to gather feedback to understand your views on the spread of coronavirus in the county and to identify what might be helping or stopping people from following guidance.

We will ask you about getting tested, about social distancing (keeping 2 metres apart) and self-isolation (staying at home if you have symptoms or a positive test) so that we can identify ways of making all of these things easier for our residents.

Please note that your answers to this survey are anonymous and the results of all responses will be analysed by NCC public health and engagement teams with the overall findings being shared with our incident response team and Oversight and Engagement Board.

Have your say on proposals to remove payphones

People are invited to have their say on plans by BT to remove payphones in Daventry District.

BT has contacted Daventry District Council (DDC) with proposals to remove nine payphones from around Daventry District, one of which is a traditional red ‘K6’ telephone box.

DDC has published a draft response to BT’s proposals and is encouraging residents, parish councils and other interested groups to give their views on it.

The Council is proposing to object to the removal of eight modern payphones in Byfield, Brixworth, Creaton, Whilton Locks, Station Road and Market Place in Long Buckby, and at The Cherwell and Trafalgar Way in Daventry.

It will agree to proposals to remove the telephony equipment from the red K6 box on Main Street in Cottesbrooke – but only if the local community goes ahead with plans to adopt the box to use it for other purposes.

People have until 5pm on Monday 28 September to give their feedback on the draft response. Councillors will then consider a final response to BT.

18 August 2020Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund – Northamptonshire Community Foundation

NCF has now opened phase 2 of funding from the Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund.

They are now transitioning from the immediate relief phase to the longer term emergency phase.  They will continue to award crisis response grants for immediate relief in anticipation of any return to lockdown as a result of a spike in infections. They will also now award recovery response grants to help secure the finances of organisations that have lost income due to the crisis and are directly supporting vulnerable people experiencing hardship as a result of the crisis. Funding will also support organisations to adapt their operations, services and working practices.
