NOTIFICATION OF ESSENTIAL SAFETY IMPROVEMENT WORKS  - A5 NORTHAMPTON ROAD

NOTIFICATION OF ESSENTIAL SAFETY IMPROVEMENT WORKS  - A5 NORTHAMPTON ROAD

We will be carrying out safety improvement works on the A5 Watling Street on the Northampton Road junction.

During our scheme of work, we will:

• install high friction surfacing

• install red surfacing to the hatched areas of the carriageway at three locations

• refresh road markings, including two new ‘slow’ road markings

• install warning sign advising of staggered junctions

• vegetation clearance to allow visibility of new signage and existing signs.

Once completed, all road users will benefit from a safer and improved road condition. When will the work take place?

Work is due to start on 7th March 2022 and will last for approximately 7 nights.

To keep our programme for these works as short as possible and to minimise disruption to the local community, we will work during the night • between 8pm until 6am

Please note all our planned works are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. How will the work affect traffic?

To maintain a safe environment for our workforce and motorists, we will need to fully close the carriageway in both directions while we work, between the A5 Towcester roundabout and Weedon Bec traffic lights.

A full road closure will be in place with no access between points however local access will be granted to residents and small businesses in designated areas only.

During all road closures we will put in place fully signed diversion routes which have been agreed with Local Authorities for this important safety improvement work. All carriageways will be open as usual outside our working hours.

No HGV’s will be granted access during restricted times, HGV’s will need to follow the diversion in place. How will the work affect businesses and residents? We’ll make sure that access to businesses and residences is maintained wherever possible.

If you would like further information regarding the diversions route drawings, please contact us so we can explain them in greater detail.

We’ll also have a dedicated Public Liaison Officer on hand to answer any questions.
