A5 KILSBY TO WEEDON - Roadworks Update

As you are no doubt aware, the recent severe weather resulted in the postponement of resurfacing works planned for the weekend of Friday 26th to Monday 29th July 2019 in Phase 3 of our essential maintenance scheme.

As a result of this postponement, resurfacing works in Phase 3 (from the Flore roundabout to the Heart of The Shires shopping village) are now planned to be carried out as follows:

1. Friday 2nd to Monday 5th August - northwards from the new Flore roundabout to just north of the turn to Dodmoor House.

2. Friday 9th – Monday 12th August – northwards from north of the bridge over the railway to The Dial House.

3. Friday 16th – Monday 19th August – northwards from The Dial House to just north of Ivy House Farm.

4. Friday 30th August – Monday 2nd September – northwards from just north of Ivy House Farm to Norton Lane.

Resurfacing works over these weekends are being carried out between 8pm Friday nights and 6am Monday mornings and the road will be closed to traffic over these weekends.

NB: Please note that no works will be carried out between 6am Friday 23rd and 8pm Tuesday 27th August to accommodate the Summer Bank Holiday weekend and the road will be open to traffic over that weekend.

Currently main drainage works are being carried out in Phase 5 (from Daventry Road (Norton) to B4036 Long Buckby) and these works will continue for the next two to three weeks.

Unfortunately, the severe weather also led to the postponement of main drainage works in Phase 5 planned for the night of Tuesday 30th / Wednesday 31st July 2019.

Despite these postponements, we are still planning to complete our essential maintenance scheme to the A5 between Kilsby and Weedon by the end of November 2019.

Main drainage works in Phase 6 (from B4036 Long Buckby to B5385 Watford Gap) are currently planned to start in the second week of August.

All main drainage works are being carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am Monday to Friday inclusive and the road will be closed to traffic between these times . When the A5 is closed during our works in Phases 3, 5 and 6, traffic is being diverted as shown on the previously posted diversion route drawing titled TTRO PLAN – PHASES 3 TO 7 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT.

NB: We are planning to return to Phase 2 (Weedon Bec crossroads to Flore Roundabout) to carry out hydroseeding to the verge adjacent to the southbound carriageway of the A5. These works will be carried out between the hours of 8pm Saturday 17th and 6am Sunday 18th August 2019.

Weedon Bec crossroads will remain open to traffic during these works.

When the A5 is closed during our works in Phase 2, traffic is being diverted as shown on the previously posted diversion route drawing titled TTRO PLAN – PHASE 2 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT.

Please note that all our planned road works may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Local businesses will be open as usual during these essential works so please use your local shops, bars and restaurants and ask others to do the same. I’m sure that your local business community would appreciate it.

I apologise for any disruption our works may cause. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

Unfortunately, there have been incidences of unauthorised vehicles being driven into our working areas. These irresponsible drivers put themselves and our workforce at risk of serious injury or death. As a result of these incursions we have employed a Safety Camera vehicle which will record any such incidences and report the offender to the Police

NB: Please note that you can receive future update bulletins and other information about this scheme by email.
