81 hours of Post Office service a week

Long Buckby Post Office has opened today (28 May) at The Co-op, High Street, Long Buckby, NN6 7RE with extended opening hours. This restores Post Office service to the area.

It is one of our new local style branches where Post Office services are delivered from an open-plan till alongside the retail counter.

The Co-op store has undergone a £600,000 refit to accommodate the Post Office.

Long Buckby Post Office, which had been based at 4 High Street, Long Buckby, NN6 7RD had been temporarily closed since February 2018 due to the resignation of the Postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises, which we do not own, for Post Office use.

The opening hours are Monday to Saturday: 7am – 10pm; Sunday: 10am – 4pm.

This provides 81 hours of Post Office service a week, making it very convenient for customers to visit.

Phil Senior, Co-op Area Manager, said “As a community retailer, we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit.  We are always looking for ways to make life easier for our customers and the addition of Post Office services will be of great benefit to the local community. We have made a big £600,000 investment to this store to accommodate the Post Office and to modernise the shop.”

Mike Ball, Post Office Multiples Account Executive, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
