ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE WORKS:
 
A5 KILSBY TO WEEDON Multi-Disciplinary Project   Update Bulletin 8 – 5.7.2019
 
Since the previous bulletin dated 21st June 2019, they have completed main drainage works in Phase 3 (from the Flore roundabout to the Heart of The Shires shopping village) together with resurfacing works between a point just north of the turn to Dodmoor House and the bridge over the railway in the same phase.
 
They have also been carrying out main drainage works in Phase 4 (from the Heart of The Shires shopping village to Daventry Road (Norton) and Phase 5 (from Daventry Road (Norton) to B4036 Long Buckby) and these works are ongoing.

All main drainage works are being carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am Monday to Friday inclusive.
 
They are returning to Phase 1 (from the BP service station to the Weedon Bec crossroads) to resurface the carriageway over the weekend of Friday 5th July to Monday 8th July 2019. Weedon Bec crossroads will be closed to vehicles during these resurfacing works which will be carried out between 8pm Friday night and 6am Monday morning. 
 
NB: For your own safety, please use designated footpaths and road crossing points. Traffic marshals will be in attendance to assist you. Please do not enter the working areas.
 
Works to Phase 1 are planned as follows:
 
Friday 5th July – 8pm – 12 midnight: Install Vehicle and Pedestrian Traffic Management, milling carriageway up to a depth of 220mm and deal with any soft spots found after milling carriageway. Saturday 6th July 12.01am – 12 midnight: Milling carriageway to around 10am to a depth of 220mm, deal with any soft spots found after milling carriageway, lay Geogrid mesh reinforcement materials, resurface carriageway with asphalt materials and remove asphalt from a 22m section of  footpath adjacent to the new housing development in Phase 2.  Sunday 7th July 12.01am – 12 midnight: Resurface footway in Phase 2 with asphalt materials, resurface phase 1 carriageway with asphalt materials, allow area of resurfaced carriageway to cool / cure before applying road markings and cut for and install traffic loops in carriageway. Monday 8th July 12 midnight – 5am: Apply temporary and remainder of permanent road markings in carriageway.

 On Monday 8th, Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th July 2019 between 8pm and 6am they will be applying High Friction Surfacing in Phase 1. Between 8pm and 12 midnight on the same nights.

They will also continue to cut for and install traffic loops. On Wednesday 10th July, they will also be hydroseeding the verge adjacent to the southbound carriageway in Phase 2. .  NB: During resurfacing and associated works in Phase 1, escorted vehicle access to and egress from homes and businesses in Phase 2 (from Weedon Bec crossroads to the new Flore roundabout), will only be available from Flore roundabout.

NB: Please note that there is an embargo on our works over the weekend of Friday 12th to 6am Monday 15th July 2019. This is to accommodate the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. There will be no road closures in place between Kilsby and Weedon over this weekend.
 
They are planning to resume resurfacing in Phase 3 (from the Flore roundabout to the Heart of The Shires shopping village), working northwards from the bridge over the railway, on the weekend of Friday 19th to Monday 22nd July 2019.
 
Please note that all planned road works may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. 
 
Local businesses will be open as usual during these essential works so please use your local shops, bars and restaurants and ask others to do the same. I’m sure that your local business community would appreciate it. 
 
Apologies for any disruption the works may cause. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. 
 
Unfortunately, there have been incidences of unauthorised vehicles being driven into the working areas. These irresponsible drivers put themselves and our workforce at risk of serious injury or death. As a result of these incursions they have employed a Safety Camera vehicle which will record any such incidences and report the offender to the Police
