Welcome to the Official Long Buckby Website

Feast Week Ends on a High!

After some excellent events during the week the Buckby Feast ended with a highly successful weekend.

On Saturday the Craft and Produce Show attracted a very large attendance. Bernard Cross was the star of the show with a hatful of winners rosettes for his garden produce.

At 1.0 o’clock on Sunday it was pouring with rain but by 2.0 the sun had come out and the open gardens had plenty of visitors. The DACT bus service enabled people to visit the three canalside gardens at the Wharf which were opened for the first time this year. Teas were provided at Sandra and Derek’s in Brington Road. The St Lawrence Singers conducted by Lois defied the windy conditions and gave excellent performances at Keith ad Peggy’s in East Street.

It was still a bit blustery on Monday but it didn’t stop the crowds and the Feast on the Market Place was, yet again, a superb event of which the village should be proud! The photos above can’t possibly record all that was going on and all the enjoyment children and adults were getting.

Thanks must go to Hilary, Jim, Mary, Simon, Mike, all their team and all other assistants for putting on such a good show for the village’

Over 50’s Road Show – September 9th

Next week, on Thursday afternoon (2.0 til 5.30) the Daventry Over 50’s Forum are running a Road Show at the Community Centre. There will be lots of promotional stands (free gifts?) and some ‘entertainment’ – a Belly Dancing demo, Fun and Fitness to Music and a Gardening Demonstration. Entry is free and there will also be refreshments and cakes.

Old Photos of Long Buckby

Derick Gautrey has put a number of old photos of Long Buckby on the Gallery so if you want a bit of nostalgia take a look. There’s even a mystery photo. We don’t know where it was taken – Do You? For that matter, before you look at the captions, do you know where the others were taken?

Topic: Cuisine 15

I love the food at Cuisine 15 - always tasty and generous with their portions. I know it is a little far from the car parks - but as we live in the village walking here is far from taxing on the legs! To those who won't even venture in - be adventurous you won't know unless you try. We need to support our local businesses - go in and try, then tell people your thoughts.

I went for a meal there with some friends having heard the stories etc I felt it best to see for myself. I can honestly say it was awful. Very poor service, 10 minutes for the staff to stop talking to each other, an hours wait for the meal which was presented well but tasted like cardboard, even trying to get a drink proved difficult. Lots of gossipping and lip glossing but very little work. I found the landlord to be difficult and I found some of his stories a little libellious in particular against some of the other businesses within the village. I was also shocked that he does not use local village traders. Definitely will not recommend or return :-(
