The bridge work IS CURRENTLY in progress and the ROAD IS CLOSED. The Road Signs have been put in place but have been removed by people who feel it should be open for them.
There is currently a framework in place underneath the bridge supporting the brickwork whilst the repairs are being completed THEREFORE THE BRIDGE HEIGHT IS REDUCED. When the road signs are removed, Heavy Goods Vehicles believe the road is then open as well and are in SERIOUS DANGER of hitting this framework, causing further damage to the bridge and there is a strong possibility that brickwork loosened could then fall on vehicles then travelling under the bridge.
THE ACTIONS OF THOSE REMOVING THESE SIGNS CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS IDIOTIC.
Network Rail have confirmed that they will now be looking to undertake the works (on the railway bridge in Long Buckby Wharf) from the 18th to 26th February at which point the road will be reopened due to clashing works on the A5 and the second phase of the works will be carried out from the 11th to 19th March.
The plan can be viewed here and as before if you require further information please contact Lee Tonks at DTM Traffic Management.
